Rod Grainger, Publisher (Member Guild of Motoring Writers)

Almost ten years ago, Veloce adopted a programme of print-to-digital conversions, beginning with long out-of-print books from its back catalogue. It now has over 500 digital publications including apps for Android and iOS,
and is developing a range of interactive and enhanced content publications.
With a history of excellence, Veloce was founded by Rod Grainger and Jude Brooks in 1991, and the company is named after the faster Alfa Romeo models, with a pleasing nod to Velocette motorcycles. Rod, a member of the Guild of Motoring Writers, and Jude have a combined 60+ years of automotive publishing
experience between them, both previously having worked for Haynes.
From the outset, Rod and Jude’s mission was to provide books of the highest quality to discerning enthusiasts worldwide. Accuracy, design, subject range, and reader satisfaction are all bywords for Veloce books, and remain so to this day – achievable because it counts some of the most respected, admired, and knowledgeable names from the automotive world among its authors, and adds this to its own cutting-edge literary, production, and design skills.
Although its best known for automotive books, Veloce encompasses imprints covering a wide range of other subjects. Hubble & Hattie created in 2009, specialises in ethically-focused animal books, from training and healthcare, to animal grief, mythology, and even recipes for dogs. Its authors and contributors include prominent names from academia, veterinary and animal professions; it even published a personal account of Living with cats, by the late Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS. Hubble &Hattie Kids, a new Hubble & Hattie imprint, embraces the same ethos and applies it to the world of children’s books.

BattleCry, Specialising in militaria, and Earthworld, a broad-reaching imprint covering all other areas of interest, combine with Hubble & Hattie and Kids! to provide a portfolio covering almost every subject.
