The book is large by any standards, in A3 format and packed full of images, stories and the backdrop from his early start entirely against his families wishes in 1968 while driving a Mini. His disastrous Formula 3 season with McNamara in 1970 and his switch to Porsche which also didnt pan out and his eventual substantial loan to provide him a place in Formula 2 in March 1971.

The book then regales his world beating career, the Clash of Giants with James Hunt and the almost deadly crash he suffered.. The book also details his time with Ferrari, Brabham and his leaving the Motor racing world to launch Lauda Air his Airline, stating ‘I am tired of driving round in circles’!

The McLaren years are then covered when McLaren tempted Lauda with a salary of unprecedented size in 1982 after his 2 year absence..
Author Jon Saltinstall is a British writer who grew up near Donnington Park, where he witnessed his first motor race at the age of 12. His ultimate admiration for Nikki Lauda led him to embark on this monumental work with him completing it just weeks before the subjects death.
